Seeing Past the Wallpaper

My clients had sticker shock. Relocating to Piedmont from out of the area, they just couldn’t come to terms with the ferocity of overbidding in the local market. Most of my clients achieve their dream home within a few months of working with me, but after almost 2 years, and 12 attempts, I was wondering if I would ever close the gap between my clients’ expectations and their budget. But then, a rarity occurred, a home that was frozen in time cosmetically — but not structurally. This home had been meticulously updated and maintained by the same family for several decades, but it still had the wallpaper, drapes and decor from another era. Most Buyers can’t help but believe, often subconsciously, that signs such as old wallpaper signal an outdated house altogether. But my clients saw past the top layer to the beautiful bones beneath, and acquired a solid home to make their own for the decades to come.
