It’s not often one finds such a treasure trove of authentic historic architectural details in one house. My client had a very particular type of house in mind, one where he could indulge his love of vintage light sconces, restore woodwork, and occupy a piece of history. He wanted to find a house unsullied by “modernization,” whimsically playful, and structurally sound. I was delighted to help him get all that, and more. Some of the many untarnished 1920’s features of this home include authentic cartouches (the sculptural plaster ornaments seen between the top tier of windows), curved stairway buttress wall, scalloped overhang at the front landing, storybook style hipped roof, original fireplace with Batchelder tile, custom oval beveled glass window above the living room picture window, built-in cabinetry and arched alcove in the dining room, natural wood moldings and trims, multi-paned windows and interior doors, and so much more.
